What we're working on....
This page will provide ideas and activities to enhance lessons learned in the classroom.
MATH
Keep an eye out for the math papers coming home in your child's folder. The worksheets we practice together will help you see the format and language that our iReady program uses.
Language Arts
Please look through the weekly word study with your child each week. Review the words of the week and pay extra close attention to the bold words (sight words). Also, be sure to review your child's individual words written down in the box. Thank you!
We do NOT have weekly spelling tests. Rather, I'm hoping with all the word practice with sight words and our interactive phonics notebooks, we slowly transfer these words into correct spelling throughout our writing pieces.
I know this is a given, but please continue to READ EVERY DAY/NIGHT with your child. Read and re-read the baggie books that your child brings home :) They are fun, short stories to help build fluency. Thank you!
Word Work Activities to practice at home:
-Magnetic Letters: Have your child create their spelling list using magnetic letters on the fridge
-Rainbow Write: Have your child write their spelling words with crayons/markers, making each letter a different color (example: they)
-Military Spelling: Have your child do a jumping jack for each letter in the word, making sure to say each letter out loud as they jump
